Dear Parents:

ANNUAL EMERGENCY/EVACUATION GO HOME DRILL

PLEASE NOTE CHANGES IN PROCEDURES

Section 155.13 of the Amendment to the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education requires school districts to conduct annual drills to exercise their School Emergency-Disaster Plan.  Our school will carry out a practice “Go Home” Plan no more than fifteen minutes before the normal dismissal time.  Students will be dismissed at 2:35 PM on:

November 10, 2005

This year, we are changing our procedures for our emergency go home drill.  In order to make this drill more meaningful we will be conducting an evacuation drill beginning at approximately 2:00 PM.  Students, faculty and staff will evacuate our building and relocate at St. Basil’s Hall.  It is important and necessary that we test this plan.

Students will be dismissed from St. Basil’s Hall at 2:35 PM.  We ask that all parents or others who normally pick up children at dismissal should follow the procedures that are attached.  Parents must share this information with whoever picks up their children.

The after-school program sponsored by the Colonie Youth Center will not be in session that day because in a real evacuation the after-school program would be cancelled.

If you have any questions about this drill or about the school district’s Emergency-Disaster Plan, please don’t hesitate to call.

Sincerely,

Jerome D. Steele
